MLB Rumors: Cody Bellinger to Toronto Blue Jays Heating Up
It has already been established that the Toronto Blue Jays are major players in the Cody Bellinger sweepstakes. Now, things are heating up on that front. The Blue Jays recently hired Don Mattingly to be their new hitting coach, and the former Miami Marlins manager previously coached Bellinger in the minors. This connection could very well lead Bellinger to Toronto.
Jays are among teams in on Cody Bellinger. New hitting coach Don Mattingly was with Dodgers when Bellinger was in minors. Bellinger looking for 1 year desl to reset for around $20M. Dodgers showed interest after non-tendering but reunion thought unlikely.

Bellinger was let go by the Los Angeles Dodgers after a very rough 2022 season. In 144 games, the 27-year-old outfielder had 19 home runs, 68 RBIs, and a very low .210 batting average. This kind of production at the plate was far lower than in previous years and came after he had a disastrous .165 batting average. Needless to say, the former MVP will be aiming to prove his critics wrong and bounce back big time in 2023.
With Mattingly now in Toronto, it certainly seems more possible that Bellinger will be heading there as well. Let's see what happens from here, but don't be surprised if Bellinger ends up being a Jay.
