MLB Rumors: Chicago Cubs Making Bigger Push for Catcher

Willson Contreras is officially done with the Chicago Cubs, as he has signed with the St. Louis Cardinals. In response to this news, the Cubs are ready to make a bigger push for Christian Vazquez to be his replacement.

Vazquez has been on the Cubs’ radar this offseason, but now we should expect Chicago to stop at nothing to bring him to the Windy City. Keep in mind, the Cubs have already shown this offseason that they want to compete in 2023, and bringing in a two-time World Series champ behind the plate is a great way to help with that.

In 119 games between the Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros last season, Vazquez had nine home runs, 52 RBIs, and a .274 batting average.
