Mets Trade Catcher James McCann To AL East Team

Heading to the AL East.

The Baltimore Orioles have acquired catcher James McCann from the New York Mets for a player to be named later.

McCann will now join a promising Orioles team, where he will serve as a backup to franchise cornerstone  Adley Rutschman.

The Mets moving McCann has been the subject of rumors for a while now after the team signed Omar Narvaez earlier this offseason. In addition, his departure gives the team's top prospect, Francisco Alvarez, an expedited path to a role in the majors.

The Mets will reportedly pay $19 million of the $24 million remaining on McCann's contract over the next two seasons.

For his nine-year career, the thirty-two-year-old holds a .243/.296/.380 slash line, with 78 home runs 316 RBIs and 265 runs scored across 786 games played.
