Former Oakland A's Pitcher Heading to KBO League
Burch Smith is heading to the KBO League, as he has signed a one-year deal with the Hanwha Eagles.
Smith last pitched in the majors during the 2021 season with the Oakland A's. In 31 games with Oakland that year, he sported a 1-1 record to go along with a 5.40 ERA. Overall, it is fair to say that he had his struggles during that campaign, and it led him to sign with the Saitama Seibu Lions of the NPB League. Now, after one year in Japan, he is heading to Hanwha.
If Smith impresses in the KBO League, it could lead MLB teams to consider signing him next offseason. We will have to wait and see what happens on that front from here.
