Pena slashed a respectable .255/.292/.340, with five home runs and a stolen base over 71 games last year in his CPBL debut, and there was some speculation that the veteran catcher might try and make a return to the MLB for the 2023 season.
Pena last appeared in the MLB with the St. Louis Cardinals back in the 2018 season.
The thirty-three-year-old owns a career .216/.249/.311 triple slash line in the majors, with five home runs, 13 RBIs, one stolen base and 18 runs scored across 86 games played. He spent time with the Kansas City Royals, Baltimore Orioles and the Cardinals.
