Cincinnati Reds Sign Catcher
The Cincinnati Reds have signed Jhonny Pereda to a minor league contract.
Pereda spent last season with Triple-A Sacramento, where he had four home runs, 25 RBIs, and a .272 batting average. Overall, it was a solid year for the 26-year-old catcher, and he will be aiming to translate that over to the Reds organization from here.
With the Reds sporting a weak roster and not the best catching depth, one has to wonder if Pereda could make the jump to the majors this upcoming season. We will have to wait and see what happens on that front. At worst, the Reds have simply added another catcher to their Triple-A squad.
