Chicago Cubs Sign Infielder
The Chicago Cubs have signed Sergio Alcantara to a minor league contract.
Alcantara spent this past season split between the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres, where he had six home runs, 29 RBIs, and a .220 batting average in 93 games. Overall, it was not the greatest of seasons for the infielder, but now he will be looking to regroup with the Cubs.
If Alcantara can find his old form, he could be a decent depth option for the Cubs. Keep in mind, he can play shortstop, second base, and third base, so he could be their utilityman if he makes the team.
