Chicago Cubs Sign All-Star Shortstop
The Chicago Cubs have won the Dansby Swanson sweepstakes, as they have inked the All-Star shortstop to a seven-year, $177 million contract.
Swanson was one of the top free agents still available, and interest in his services skyrocketed once other big-name shortstops found their new homes. Although the 28-year-old had to wait a bit to find his destination, it is now set - Dansby is a Cub.
Swanson is coming off of the best season of his career and will be looking to build off of that with his new club. In 162 games with the Atlanta Braves, the 2015 first-overall pick had 25 home runs, 96 RBIs, and a .277 batting average. Let's see what he can do as a Cub from here.
