Baltimore Orioles Claim First Baseman Off Waivers

The Baltimore Orioles have claimed Lewin Diaz off of waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Diaz joined the Pirates last month on a waiver claim from the Miami Marlins, but his time in Pittsburgh is now over before it even started. He will now be aiming to make the Orioles' major league roster from here in 2023.

Diaz appeared in 58 games this past season with the Marlins, where he had five home runs, 11 RBIs, and a .169 batting average. Overall, it is fair to say he struggled, but the new year offers a clean slate. Let's see if this move to Baltimore helps him bounce back.
