Cashman said that the Yankees would love to keep Judge, mentioning not only his production, his star power, and what he means to the franchise and fanbase, but that the level of investment it will take to keep the superstar will ultimately be up to the Yankees' owner.
It's kind of an obvious answer, but it is the truth. Judge bet on himself this past season, turning down a $213.5 million extension from the Yankees prior to the season, and then went on to hit an American League record 62 home runs. It's safe to say Judge made the right decision, as he's likely looking at a $300 million deal this offseason now.
It remains to be seen if Steinbrenner and the Yankees will give him that much.
