Tigers Pitcher to Decline Player Option
According to Evan Petzold, Andrew Chafin is planning to decline his $6.5 million player option with the Detroit Tigers and hit the free-agent market this offseason.
This is not all that surprising, as Chafin put together another excellent season and will surely be in line to get a multi-year contract because of it. In 64 appearances with Detroit, he sported a 2-3 record to go along with a 2.83 ERA. He is the kind of reliable reliever all teams vie for, so expect him to find a new home fairly quickly.
In 476 career games over his nine-year career, Chafin has a 14-20 record, 3.23 ERA, and 422 strikeouts. Let's see where the veteran ends up from here.
