Texas Rangers Moving On From Outfielder
The Texas Rangers have declined Kole Calhoun's $5.5 million club option. Thus, the veteran outfielder is hitting the market.
Calhoun struggled in his lone season as a Ranger, so perhaps this decision is one we could have predicted. In 125 games, he had 12 home runs, 49 RBIs, and a disastrous .196 batting average. This was not enough for him to land this team option from the Rangers, and now he will be hoping he can find a new home from here.
Calhoun's plethora of MLB experience could get him some consideration around the league. In 1,196 career games, Calhoun has 173 home runs, 557 RBIs, and a .243 batting average. Let's see if he has the chance to improve upon these totals in 2023 from here.
