Tampa Bay Rays Pitcher Elects Free Agency
Nick Anderson has cleared waivers and rejected his outright assignment from the Tampa Bay Rays. As a result, he is now a free agent.
Anderson did not make an appearance in the majors this season after only pitching in six games for the Rays in 2021. Injuries have put his career on pause, and it is truly a shame because it seemed that he was going to blossom into a top-tier reliever before them. For example, in 2020, he had a ridiculous 0.55 ERA in 19 appearances for Tampa Bay.
Due to Anderson's past success, it seems likely that a team will be open to the prospect of signing him this offseason. We will have to wait and see where he ends up going from here. In 93 career games, he has a 7-6 record and 2.89 ERA.
