San Diego Padres Sign Two-Time All-Star Pitcher

The San Diego Padres have signed Julio Teheran to a minor league contract. If he reaches the majors, he can earn up to $6 million for the season.

Teheran last pitched in the majors during the 2021 season with the Detroit Tigers, appearing in one contest. The 31-year-old was once a dominant pitcher for the Atlanta Braves and made two All-Star Games because of it. Now, he will be hoping to find his old form as a Padre from here.

Overall, this is a low-risk move for the Padres. At worst, Teheran won't impress at Spring Training and not make the major league roster. Yet, if he performs well, he could compete for a spot in their rotation.

In 240 career MLB games, Teheran has a 78-77 record and a 3.80 ERA.
