San Diego Padres Re-Sign Reliever
The San Diego Padres have re-signed Robert Suarez to a five-year, $46 million contract. It also comes with an opt-out option for the 2025 season.
Suarez initially rejected a $5 million player option with the Padres, but now, he will remain with the Padres from here. This is exciting news for San Diego, as Suarez was excellent as a 31-year-old rookie for them. In 45 appearances, he had a 5-1 record to go along with a 2.27 ERA.
With this signing, the Padres are keeping one of their top relievers around for a long time, so it's certainly big for them. We will have to wait and see how Suarez performs with the club from here following his big payday.
