Reds Sign Former Top Prospect
He was non-tendered by the Cincinnati Reds last week.
Now, the Reds are re-signing outfielder Allan Cerda to a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Cerda was non-tendered by the Reds last week but will return to the organization on a new deal now.
Once, a former top prospect in the Reds' organization, Cerda has not been able to make the jump to the majors at this point in his career. He does have impressive power, however, as this past season in the minors, Cerda slashed .208/.360/.804, with 24 home runs, 56 RBIs, seven stolen bases and 74 runs scored over 408 at-bats.
For his minor league career, the twenty-two-year-old holds a .233/.367/.837 slash line, with 56 home runs, 172 RBIs, 14 stolen bases and 188 runs scored across 1,017 at-bats. He'll look to finally make his major league debut in the 2023 season.
