Red Sox's Top Prospect Won't Return To Winter Ball After Injury

He won't return to the Dominican Winter League.

Boston Red Sox's top prospect Triston Casas' knee injury will prevent him from returning to play for Tigres del Licey in the DWL.
Casas had only played three games for Tigres before developing knee soreness in mid-October. The Red Sox, however, are unconcerned about the long-term outlook of the injury but don't want him risking any further injury in winter ball.

Casas was playing in the Dominican to make up for his lost development time after he missed two months this past season with a high ankle sprain.

He'll head into the 2023 season as the Red Sox's primary first baseman or designated hitter. The twenty-two-year-old hit five home runs and 12 RBIs over his 27 major league games in 2022.
