Pittsburgh Pirates Sign Veteran Infielder
The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed Carlos Santana to a one-year, $6.725 million contract.
This is the third notable move that the Pirates have made this offseason alone, as they of course acquired Ji-Man Choi from the Tampa Bay Rays and claimed Lewin Diaz off of waivers. Now, they are getting a veteran power-hitter in Santana to add a bit more pop to their batting order.
Santana split this past season between the Kansas City Royals and Seattle Mariners, where he had 19 home runs, 60 RBIs, and a .202 batting average. It will be intriguing to see how the 13-year veteran performs as a Pirate from here.
