Pittsburgh Pirates Claim Outfielder Off Waivers
The Pittsburgh Pirates have claimed Ryan Vilade off of waivers from the Colorado Rockies.
Vilade played in 99 games for Triple-A Albuquerque this past season, where he had five home runs, 38 RBIs, and a .249 batting average. Overall, it was a decent year for him, but it was still not enough for him to maintain his spot on the Rockies' 40-man roster. Now, he is a Pirate because of it.
Vilade could be a decent utility player for Pittsburgh, as he can play shortstop as well as the outfield. We will have to wait and see how he performs at Spring Training from here. If he does well, he could be in the majors for Opening Day.
