Pittsburgh Pirates Claim Infielder Off Waivers

The Pittsburgh Pirates have claimed Lewin Diaz off of waivers from the Miami Marlins.

Diaz appeared in 58 games this past season with the Marlins, where he had five home runs, 11 RBIs, and a very low .169 batting average. With numbers like these, it is fair to say that he struggled in 2022, but now he will be hoping to for more success with the Pirates this upcoming season.

With Diaz only being 26 years old, it is fair to argue that he has some upside. Perhaps the change of scenery could end up being exactly what he needs to take that next step. He will be heading into this season with the goal of competing for a depth role on Pittsburgh's MLB roster.
