Orioles Outright Catcher
They signed him to a one-year contract last month.
Now, the Baltimore Orioles have sent catcher Anthony Bemboom outright to Triple-A Norfolk.
Bemboom appeared officially locked into the Orioles' plans for the 2023 season after the team signed him to a one-year extension last month. He'll now open the 2023 season in the minors after being removed from the team's 40-man roster.
The thirty-two-year-old was expected to serve as the backup to starting catcher Adley Rustchman, but that seems less likely now, and more likely that he'll just be emergency catching depth behind the team's young star.
Over his four-year career, Bemboom has a slash line of .160/.231/.265, with five home runs, 12 RBIs and 17 runs scored over 76 games. He's spent time with the Tampa Bay Rays, Los Angeles Angels and the Orioles.
