Orioles Former Top Prospect Elects Free Agency
He was the top prospect the Baltimore Orioles got back from the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Manny Machado trade in 2018.
Outfielder Yusniel Diaz was sent outright to Triple-A Norfolk and has opted for free agency.

Once a former top prospect, Diaz's value has plummeted as of late. Last season, the twenty-five-year-old slashed .251/.346/.360 with six home runs, 34 RBIs and nine steals over 70 games and 286 plate appearances at the Triple-A level.
He made his major league debut with the Orioles in 2022, though his time with the big-league club last just one plate appearance.
Diaz will now look to find a chance with another team.
