New York Yankees Keeping Pitcher Around
The New York Yankees have announced that they will be picking up their club option for Luis Severino. He will make $15 million in 2023.
Severino staying put is not surprising at all, as he was quite solid for the Yankees. In 19 appearances on the year, he had a 7-3 record to go along with a 3.18 ERA. This was the most amount of games he pitched since 2018, as he only appeared in seven games from 2019-2021 (missing all of 2020). Now, he is set to remain an important part of the Yankees' pitching staff in 2023.
We will have to wait and see how the two-time All-Star performs from here with the Yankees. If he can remain healthy and put together another very good season, expect for him to get a big contract after this club option with the Yankees ends.
