New York Mets Pitcher Declines Mutual Option

According to Jon Heyman, Chris Bassitt is planning to reject his $19 million mutual option with the New York Mets. Due to this, he is set to hit the free-agent market.

Given the season Bassitt just had, it makes sense that he is testing his luck on the open. The righty was outstanding for the Mets this campaign, as he had a 15-9 record to go along with a 3.42 ERA. With numbers like these, he is clearly a solid top-half-of-the-rotation pitcher, so interest will be high for his services.

Expect the Mets to try to convince him to stay by offering him more cash from here, but now the rest of the league will have him in their sights as well.
