New York Mets Pick Up DH's Club Option
Without any surprise, the New York Mets are picking up Daniel Vogelbach's $1.5 million club option for the 2023 campaign, according to Jon Heyman.
Vogelbach turned out to be an underrated addition to the Mets' roster this season. In 130 games split between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Mets, he had 18 home runs, 59 RBIs, and a .238 batting average. However, he hit for contact much better after becoming a Met, as he had a .255 batting average in 55 games.
It would have been silly for the Mets to let Vogelbach go for that small of a sum (for MLB standards, of course), so at the end of the day, this was an easy decision. Let's see how he performs with the club in 2023.
