New York Mets Claim Pitcher Off Waivers
The New York Mets have claimed Stephen Ridings off of waivers from the New York Yankees.
Ridings has appeared in five MLB games in his career (all in 2021), where he has a 0-0 record to go along with a 1.80 ERA. Overall, although the sample size is quite small, he has been solid when called upon at the major league level. As a result, perhaps it makes sense for the Mets to take a chance on him. Now, it's just a matter of him staying healthy.
Ridings pitched only two innings this season split between Double-A and Triple-A, where he did not allow a run. In 2021, he had a perfect 5-0 record and 1.24 ERA in the minors, so he has shown dominance at that level. It will now be intriguing to see if he can get healthy and make an impact as a Met from here.
