MLB Rumors: Mets Believe All-Star Starter Wishes To Remain With Team
Well, this is new.
All this past season it was being reported that New York Mets starter Jacob deGrom would be done with the Mets following 2022 and that he wanted to play for a smaller market team.
Now, however, deGrom's preference is reportedly to remain with the Mets.

Of course, the All-Star starter may just be saying that, as he continues to search the open market for a new team. Because if, after all, he does remain with the Mets, it wouldn't sit too well with the fans for their superstar pitcher to have been wanting out of the organization.
The Mets believe that if they can come close to offering what deGrom is seeing on the open market, he will just return to the team, or he will give them a chance to match the offer.
However, the team would ideally prefer a shorter-term deal for the thirty-four-year-old, if possible.
