MLB Rumors: Houston Astros Making Push for Star Catcher
As we reported on Saturday (Nov. 12), the Houston Astros are surely one of the potential landing spots for free-agent catcher Willson Contreras. Now, it appears that things are heating up on that front, as MLB insider Jon Heyman reported that the Astros are making a push for the All-Star catcher.
The Astros tried to acquire him at the deadline from the Chicago Cubs this season, but the deal fell through. Yet, even with former GM James Click no longer with the team, the Astros have Contreras on their wish list.
In 113 games this past season, Contreras had 22 home runs, 55 RBIs, and a .243 batting average. With a year like this, he was named to his third All-Star Game. He would be a big addition to the reigning champs, so let's see if they bring him to Houston from here.
