Minnesota Twins Pitcher Elects Free Agency

After clearing waivers, Minnesota Twins pitcher Cody Stashak has elected to become a free agent
instead of accepting an outright assignment.

Stashak was solid when called upon by the Twins this season, so it is a little surprising that he was removed from their 40-man roster. In 11 games on the year, he had a 3-0 record to go along with a 3.86 ERA. Overall, he was not too bad, but it was not enough for him to avoid being designated for assignment. Now, he will be testing his luck on the open market for the chance of a fresh start.

Stashak has spent the entirety of his four-year career with the Twins, where he has a 4-1 record and 4.13 ERA in 55 appearances. It will be intriguing to see how much he improves upon these career stats in 2023. First, he will need to find a new home.
