Minnesota Twins Bringing Back Pitcher
According to Jon Heyman, the Minnesota Twins are set to pick up Sonny Gray's $12.7 million team option for the 2023 campaign.
This is not surprising in the slightest, as Gray just put together a very strong season with the Twins. In 24 games this season, he sported an 8-5 record to go along with a 3.08 ERA. It was a solid bounce-back season for the two-time All-Star, as he just had a fairly disappointing 4.19 ERA with the Cincinnati Reds the year before. The change of scenery clearly helped him, and now he will be aiming to maintain this form this upcoming season.
Bringing back Gray at $12.7 million was a no-brainer for the Twins. Had he hit the open market, he easily would have made more, but the Twins have made the right call exercising their club option to bring him back.
