Milwaukee Brewers Decline Pitcher's Option
Brad Boxberger is now a free agent, as the Milwaukee Brewers have declined his $3 million option. Instead, he will receive a $750,000 buyout.
Boxberger had a solid 2022 season, so it seemed rather likely that Milwaukee would bring him back. In 70 appearances, he had a 4-3 record to go along with a 2.95 ERA. Overall, that is very reliable stuff from a reliever, so it is rather shocking that the Brewers are letting him go. Now, we should expect a decent market to form for his services from here.
Boxberger comes with 11 years of experience and is a one-time All-Star. In 484 career games, he has a 31-37 record and 3.44 ERA. The free-agent market has gotten another strong reliever added to it. Let's see where he ends up from here.
