Mariners Outfielder Elects Free Agency
He was claimed off waivers by the Seattle Mariners last month from the Detroit Tigers.
Now, outfielder Derek Hill has decided to test the free agent market rather than remain with the Mariners organization.
After joining the Mariners, Hill spent the rest of the season with the organization's Triple-A affiliate and was waived at the end of the season. He's exercised his right to free agency now.
Over three seasons in the majors, all spent with the Tigers, Hill has a .240/.291/.339 slash line, with four home runs, 17 RBIs, nine stolen bases and 30 runs scored across 95 total games.
The twenty-six-year-old is a former 1st-round pick by the Tigers in the 2014 MLB Draft. He'll look to land a contract with another organization this offseason.
