Los Angeles Dodgers Linked To Free Agent Shortstop & Reliever
With their own superstar shortstop potentially leaving in free agency, the Los Angeles Dodgers are no doubt on the hunt for a replacement if they can't re-sign Trea Turner. The latest report has them joining the Xander Bogaerts Sweepstakes.
Spanish-language Boston Red Sox reporter Marino Pepén says the Dodgers are among the teams that have joined the Top 3 pursuers for Bogaerts, whom he named in a report on Saturday.
The Red Sox had their opportunity to re-up with Bogaerts all year long, but now they're in tough with many big-money suitors trying to woo him. The 4-time All-Star hit .307 this season, with an .833 OPS, but a drop in power production, to just 15 HR. His defense ticked up however.
He's expected to earn a long-term contract close to the $200M range.
LA's bullpen will also be losing a couple of pieces heading into free agency, thus they have their eye on former St. Louis Cardinals closer Alex Reyes.

Reyes missed last season due to injuries but was one of the best relievers in the NL when healthy in 2021.
MLB.com reporter Juan Toribio reports that the Dodgers are one of many teams with interest in Reyes. The 28-year-old missed the 2022 season due to shoulder surgery. He was an All-Star in 2021, posting 29 saves with a 3.24 ERA and 11.8 K/9. He was the Cardinals' No. 1 prospect when he first arrived in the majors in 2016.
