Los Angeles Angels Superstar Staying Put
Well, the Shohei Ohtani trade rumors can be put to rest (at least for now). Los Angeles Angels GM Perry Minasian told reporters that Ohtani will start the 2023 season with the team and that they are not considering trading the superstar.
Ohtani is about to enter the final season of his contract and will be a UFA next winter. The Angels are banking on him staying with the Angels past this upcoming season. The Angels will need to turn things around immensely to have any chance of extending him, however. Another horrendous season could lead him to move on.
In 157 games this season, Ohtani had 34 home runs, 95 RBIs, and a .273 batting average. His pitching was spectacular as well, as he had a 15-9 record, 2.33 ERA, and 219 strikeouts. We will have to wait and see what he does for the Angels next season from here.
