Kansas City Royals Re-Sign First Baseman
The Kansas City Royals have re-signed Ryan O'Hearn to a one-year, $1.4 million contract. With that, it comes with another $250,000 of potential bonuses.
O'Hearn was one of the Royals' non-tender candidates, but they have now decided to keep the first baseman/right fielder around. Now, he will be aiming to cement himself a big role in their lineup in 2023.
After hitting a combined 26 home runs in 149 games over his first two seasons (2018 & 2019), O'Hearn's power numbers have fallen off. In 67 games this past season, he had just one home to go along with 16 RBIs and a .239 batting average.
It will be intriguing to see how O'Hearn performs for the Royals from here. Overall, it's a cheap deal, so it ultimately comes with no risk.
