Dodgers Comfortable With Former Top Prospect As Shortstop If Trea Turner Leaves

There's a very good chance Trea Turner signs elsewhere this offseason.

Los Angeles Dodgers team president Andrew Friedman told reporters that the club would be comfortable with Gavin Lux as their everyday shortstop if Trea Turner does end up signing elsewhere.
The superstar shortstop is now a free agent and it is being reported that his preference is to play someplace on the east coast.

Friedman did say that the team will talk to other available shortstops on the market while Turner shops around but, ultimately, they're ready to hand the job over to their former top prospect, Gavin Lux, if they can't sign a big name this offseason.

Lux slashed .276/.346/.399, with six home runs, 42 RBIs, seven stolen bases and 66 runs scored over 129 games this past season. He also tacked on an impressive league-leading seven triples.

The twenty-four-year-old should continue to develop into a very good player moving forward.
