Cincinnati Reds Move on from Veteran Pitcher
The Cincinnati Reds have declined Mike Minor's $13 million mutual option. Thus, he is now a free agent.
This was an expected move by the Reds, as Minor struggled immensely this campaign. In 19 starts, he had a 4-12 record to go along with a disastrous 6.06 ERA. Paying a pitcher $13 million with an ERA that high was never going to happen, so now the 11-year veteran will have to test his luck on the market.
Teams could express interest in Minor due to his experience. In 295 career games, he has an 83-90 record and a 4.25 ERA. Although his days as an All-Star are long gone, perhaps he could serve as a decent depth option for teams in need of some starters.
