Chicago White Sox Bring Back Outfielder
After electing free agency, Mark Payton has had a change of heart and has now inked a minor league deal to return to the Chicago White Sox.
Payton spent the majority of the 2022 campaign playing for Triple-A Charlotte. In 119 games on the year, he had 25 home runs, 95 RBIs, and a .293 batting average. Clearly, he thrived in the minor leagues this season, so it makes sense that the White Sox are bringing him back for extra depth.
Payton's power numbers did not translate over to the majors when called upon, however, as he had zero home runs, one RBI, and a .143 batting average in eight games with the White Sox. Let's see if he can change that in 2023 if called up from here.
