File was designated for assignment by the Milwaukee Brewers at the end of May.
The twenty-six-year-old never made a major league appearance, but stayed in the Brewers' organization, posting a 4.57 ERA, over 26 appearances and 19 starts at the Triple-A level.
File will head to Korea and look to impress, possibly improving his stock and leading to a return, and increased role, in the MLB. He is a former 21st-round pick by the Brewers in the 2017 MLB Draft.
