Boston Red Sox Select Infielder
The Boston Red Sox have selected Enmanuel Valdez to their 40-man roster.
Valdez was eligible to become a minor league free agent, but now that will not occur due to Boston adding him to their 40-man roster. Ultimately, it makes sense that the Red Sox have made this move, as Valdez is coming off of a very strong season in the minors and is still just 23 years old. In 126 games split between Double-A and Triple-A, he had 28 home runs, 107 RBIs, and a .296 batting average.
If Valdez has a strong Spring Training, he surely could be in the running to being on their Opening Day roster in 2023. It also does not hurt that he offers wonderful versatility, as he can play second base, third base, and left field. Nevertheless, we will have to wait and see how he performs for the Red Sox from here.
