Boston Red Sox Player Accepts Player Option
James Paxton will be staying with the Boston Red Sox, as he has accepted his $4 million player option.
Paxton did not appear in a single game for Boston this past season, as he's still recovering from 2021 Tommy John surgery. Instead of testing his luck on the open market, the 6-foot-4 lefty has elected to stay in Boston for the guaranteed $4 million.
The Red Sox will be hoping that Paxton can contribute for them in 2023 from here. He has made just six appearances since the 2020 season due to his injury trouble, but when healthy, he has been excellent. In 137 career games, Paxton sports a 57-33 record and a 3.59 ERA.
