Boston Red Sox Designate 2 Players for Assignment

The Boston Red Sox have designated Jake Reed and Caleb Hamilton for assignment.

Reed spent this past season split between the New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Baltimore Orioles, where he had a 2-0 record but also a very high 7.02 ERA. He was hoping to turn things around on the Red Sox's 40-man roster for 2023, but now he is officially off it and hitting the waiver wire because of it.

Hamilton, on the other hand, played in 22 games with the Minnesota Twins this season, where he went 1-for-18 at the plate, which equates to a .056 batting average. It was certainly a rough year for him in the majors, but he did have 11 home runs in 62 Triple-A games.

Both players were late-season waiver claims by Boston, so let's see if they get claimed by other teams from here.
