Atlanta Braves Re-Sign Pitcher
The Atlanta Braves have signed Tyler Matzek to a two-year, $3.1 million contract. With that, it comes with a $5.5 million club option for the 2025 campaign.
Matzek had Tommy John surgery in October, so he is expected to miss the entirety of the 2023 season. That is certainly rough to hear, but this two-year deal ensures that he will remain a Brave once he is ready to return to the mound in 2024.
Matzek had a very good season in 2022, so it makes sense that the Braves have decided to bring him back. In 42 games, he sported a 4-2 record and a 3.50 ERA.
