Astros Catcher Set To Undergo Offseason Surgery

An absolute warrior.

Houston Astros catcher Martin Maldonado told reporters on Saturday that he played most of the second half of the season with a broken hand and a sports hernia. Both injuries will require surgery.
Maldonado has to be given an enormous amount of credit for suiting up and playing through the injuries, ultimately helping the Astros capture the 2022 World Series title.

The thirty-six-year-old catcher should be healthy and ready to go for the start of spring training next season.

Maldonado slashed .186/.248/.352, with 15 home runs, 45 RBIs and 40 runs scored across 113 games this past season.
