2 Baltimore Orioles Elect Free Agency
Chris Ellis and Aramis Garcia have both rejected an outright assignment by the Baltimore Orioles and have elected to become free agents.
Ellis appeared in two games for the Orioles this past season, where he had a 0-0 record to go along with a 10.38 ERA. Yes, he struggled when called upon by Baltimore, and that likely played a role in his removal from their 40-man roster. However, he will now be testing his luck on the open market and will be hoping to find a new home from here.
Garcia, on the other hand, recently joined the Orioles through a waiver claim from the Cincinnati Reds. Now, he will instead be a free agent, and he shouldn't have too much trouble landing a job. In 47 games this season, he had one home run, four RBIs, and a .213 batting average. He has the potential to be an effective backup catcher, so look for him to get signed.
