Marte didn't feel great after taking some swings yesterday. He's frustrated, but manager Buck Showalter is still holding out a little hope of him being available for the first round of the playoffs.
Starling Marte is improving "little by little" Buck Showalter said, but "not to the point where he can play in a game."

Marte's regular season is obviously over at this point. Showalter is "trying to be optimistic about" his potential availability for the Wild Card Series.
The manager said that although Marte is improving "little by little," he's "not to the point where he can play in a game."
The Mets are 13-11 since Marte's injury, heading into their game on Tuesday afternoon against the Washington Nationals. His absence was glaring during their 3-game sweep at the hands of the Atlanta Braves, which lost them first place.
We really haven’t talked enough about the massive loss it has been for the Mets to not have Starling Marte. You really feel it in a series like this where you want all hands on deck.

The Mets will almost certainly be starting the three-game Wild Card series without him in the starting lineup on Friday, but they'll have their fingers crossed (except Marte's fractured one) that he can contribute in some way.
