Hosmer returns for Monday's series opener against the Tampa Bay Rays at Fenway Park following an extended absence due to lower back inflammation. He's been out since late August.
The thirty-two-year-old has played just 12 games for the Red Sox since being acquired from the San Diego Padres at the trade deadline.
Hosmer has slashed .267/.333/.714, with eight home runs, 44 RBIs and 38 runs scored across 375 at-bats this season. With the Red Sox, Hosmer's hit just .225/.311/.300, with four RBIs and six runs scored over 12 games played.
