Rays Select Contract of Pitcher

He's getting another chance to audition for a spot on the Tampa Bay Ray's postseason roster.

The Rays have selected the contract of pitcher Kevin Herget from Triple-A Durham.
Herget has spent very minimum time with the Rays this season, pitching just 2.2 innings and allowing two runs over a pair of relief appearances.

The thirty-one-year-old will pitch in middle relief out of Tampa Bay's bullpen for their final regular-season series.

Herget has posted a stellar 2.95 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, and 99 strikeouts over 97.2 innings of work in the minors this season. In 21 appearances, he's made 17 starts and holds an 8-1 record.
