NPB Pitcher to Become MLB Free Agent
According to the Kyodo News, the Hanshin Tigers of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) will post Shintaro Fujinami. As a result of this, he will be made available for MLB teams to sign via free agency.
Fujinami is a very intriguing pitcher to pay attention to. The 6-foot-6 righthanded is known for his high velocity and has hit the 101 MPH mark before. However, although he was once viewed as a top-tier prospect, he has had some control trouble. This season was a step in the right direction, though, as he had a 3.38 ERA in 16 appears with the Tigers.
Fujinami has plenty of upside, but he also comes with risk. It will be intriguing to see how many MLB teams make a push to sign the 28-year-old. If he hits his potential, he could end up being a pretty notable addition if signed.
