MLB Rumors: 3 Potential Landing Spots for Willians Astudillo
Versatility at its finest, Willians Astudillo can play an array of positions: catcher, third base, first base, second base, AND the outfield. Naturally, this should lead to "La Tortuga" receiving some interest as a free agent this offseason. Let's look at some specific teams who could consider signing the 30-year-old.
Minnesota Twins: Astudillo played four seasons with the Twins from 2018 to 2021. During that time, he became a favorite to many because of his hard work ethic and versatility, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a reunion come to fruition between these two.
Boston Red Sox: The Red Sox had a pretty horrible 2022 season, and a big reason for that was their lack of depth (among plenty of other things). Adding a player like Astudillo would give them a solid utilityman who could get into game action when they deal with injuries and/or starters who are struggling.
Baltimore Orioles: The Orioles showed this season that they are heading in the right direction. Therefore, they should be looking to add to their roster this offseason and although Astudillo is not a star, he would give them more options to work with on their major league roster. With that, he fits into the underdog label that this team is starting to develop.
